I love the early Spring as it brings about many colors and anticipation of new blooms...one flower really entices my interest toward the latter part of Winter...the Columbines.
I almost pulled these flowers up out of my garden...because they looked like clover to me...but became busy and didn't get around to it...then I noticed stems shooting out of the center of the plants with a closed flower head...so I waited to see what I was going to get...I had planted the seed late Spring a year and a half before this...
I had planted some Columbine Bulbs the year before around my flowering Crabapple tree...and noticed that what was looking promising there looked like the other flowers in the garden...could it be....
Sure enough, these flowers broke out with some beautiful yellows and blues...while the flowers around the Crabapple tree were violet and blue...
I love these flowers because they have intricate symmetrical form....and they bring the Hummingbirds with their blooms....here are some pictures of some of my recent blooms...now I have nothing left but seed heads...which is wonderful in itself as well...
